What We Believe

At Colonial Heights we believe that God came into the world to save sinners and reveal the fullness of love in the person of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus is the fullest expression of the character, identity and mission of God. Therefore, we put our hope and our faith in Jesus Christ and seek to follow his way and his teachings. We seek to have the Holy Spirit work through our church as we become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ by witness, worship, prayer, study, service and fellowship.

We believe that God is still alive and active in the world through the power of the Holy Spirit and desperately wants you to experience wholeness and grace that will transform your life and the life of your family.

We believe that the local church is the hope of the world and the primary place where people grow in grace and deepen their commitment to becoming disciples of Jesus Christ.

We believe that the church is called to be salt and light in our community and that through our worship and service our neighborhood is a better place to live and work and experience abundant life.

A phrase that has become important to us is that at Colonial Heights we are about seeking God and serving people. We seek God through our worship, Bible study, community and other spiritual disciples and we respond to everything God has done for us by serving people in the name and power of Jesus Christ.

We express our faith as part of the United Methodist Church, which places an emphasis on God’s grace and our response to grow and live more like Jesus Christ. As United Methodists, we affirm the teachings of the Apostle’s Creed and other historic expressions of the Christian faith.
