All of us have a longing and desire to grow closer to God, but often we aren’t quite sure how to go about it. We believe that receiving the gift a deeper and more faithful relationship with God doesn’t happen overnight, but usually comes as the result of consistently participating in spiritual disciples or means of grace like participating in a small group Bible study or prayer group.
Here at Colonial Heights we take Bible Study seriously, not so we can become better at Bible trivia but so that by learning more about who God is and God’s will for our lives we can deepen our faith, experience the good life that God wants for us and become more devoted followers of Christ.
As for Bible Study, we have several opportunities throughout the week to meet new friends, grow in your knowledge of Scripture and pray with other Christians trying to do the same. For more information, contact the church office at 865-577-2727.
We also invite you to join us on Sunday mornings for Adult Sunday School, which begins at 9:45 a.m.
Sunday evenings are wonderful at Colonial Heights because we gather together at 5:45 pm to enjoy a meal and learn more about our faith, our community, and each other. Following a meal (5:45-6:30 pm), we participate in Bible Study and spiritual formation. This is typically held every Sunday evening that Knox County Schools are in session. For more information, contact the church office.
United Methodist Men
The UMM meets the second Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm. A supportive fellowship of men who seek to know Jesus Christ and grow spiritually, the group conducts fundraising projects to maintain and improve the church building and grounds. They also support the scouting program of the church.
United Methodist Women
The UMW meets the fourth Tuesday of the month at 1:00 pm for creative programs and fellowship. The group supports mission projects and sponsors church-wide missions and Bible studies throughout the year. Several members of the group participate in the Spiritual Life Retreat each spring.
Colonial Heights is home to one of the largest contingents of lay speakers in our conference. Lay speakers have received special training in how to share their faith with others. Some have received basic training to prepare them for local church speaking, and others have received advanced training to prepare them for speaking beyond the local church. If would like more information on becoming a lay speaker, please contact the church office.
