Children are important to God and so they are important to us here at Colonial Heights! We believe that each person who walks through the doors of our church is a person who is loved by and created by God, especially children. At Colonial Heights we take seriously our call to help children grow in their faith and become deeply committed followers of Jesus Christ.

Sunday School

Sunday School meets from 9:45 to 10:35 am each Sunday morning. Children and youth classes meet in the Humble Building (the south wing).

  • *Infant Nursery: Birth to 18 months
  • *Pre-School Nursery: 18 months to Age 4
  • Early Elementary (K,1,2): Age 5 through 2nd Grade
  • Older Elementary: Grades 3 – 5
  • Jr. High: Grades 6 – 8
  • Sr. High: Grades 9 – 12

*Our infant and pre-school nurseries are also available during Morning Worship.

Soul Patrol

A fellowship group for children in grades 1 – 5, Soul Patrol meets on Sundays, 5:00 – 6:30 pm (including a snack supper). Led by Adam and Dakota Montgomery, the group enjoys games, outings and spiritual growth programs. Each Christmas, Soul Patrol presents an outstanding drama or musical.

Mothers Day Out

A child enrichment program for infants to 4-year-olds, Mother’s Day Out is open 9 – 2:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays when Knox County Schools are in session. This ministry provides an opportunity for parents to have time for themselves, run errands, or keep appointments while their child plays, learns, and interacts with other children in a loving Christian environment. Camp in the Community – Camp in South Knoxville

Every summer Colonial Heights hosts a Vacation Bible School, however this summer Colonial Heights UMC is partnering with Camp in the Community to provide a free camp where children in the community can learn and grow. We have organized activities throughout the week including recreation, games, crafts, story time, and much more. Children will be placed into small groups and will be well supervised. We will use safe sanctuary regulations to ensure your child’s safety. Camp in the Community is adheres to the highest standards possible.
