Serving people in the name of Jesus Christ is one of the great joys that comes from living as a follower of Jesus Christ. One of the things we take from the Lord’s Prayer is the call to partner with God every day to make our world look more like God envisions it. We believe we can do that by striving as a church to help make the community we have been charged to serve better for all of our neighbors and all of God’s children.
We are honored to partner with Lake Forest Presbyterian Church to serve with Family Promise in helping families move out of homelessness and into more permanent housing. Family Promise is a wonderful ministry that partners with local churches to house families while they going through a program of education and training in order to keep them together while they work their way towards stability and wholeness.
Montgomery Village Ministries
We have a long relationship of being in ministry with the people of Montgomery Village, including sponsoring several refugee families. We enjoy the ongoing ministry we have been able to develop with these families by teaching English and computer skills, mentoring, teaching life skills and also inviting and welcoming them into the life of our church.
South Knoxville Elementary
We also have been blessed with a long relationship with South Knox Elementary School, a neighborhood school with many needs. Through a variety of efforts, we take pride in doing what we can to help students and teachers develop leaders in our community. Our ongoing support of the Bear Bucks Store provides incentives for good attendance, academic excellence and the development of life skills.
South Doyle High School
We take pride in the Cherokees and are grateful for the opportunity to be in relationship with both the football and men’s basketball teams at South Doyle, our local high school. We enjoy the opportunity to provide meals and encouragement for both teams as they experience the learning and encouragement that comes from athletics.
Through the connections we have developed with the Knoxville Leadership Foundation we are able to participate in home repair ministries for needy families in Knoxville. We have enjoyed being able to share our faith by making a difference through much-needed home repairs and improvements all across Knoxville through Operation Backyard.

This ministry provides an opportunity for parents to have time for themselves, run errands, or keep appointments while their child plays, learns, and interacts with other children in a loving Christian environment. Rick Flanagan Memorial Thanksgiving Dinner
Established in 2000 in memory of a beloved member of the church, the Rick Flanagan Memorial Thanksgiving Dinner serves our South Knoxville community by providing a Thanksgiving Meal for more than 150 people each year. Guests not only receive a wonderful meal but also have the opportunity to receive blankets, coats, hats, gloves and other clothing they may need for the winter season. The meal is free to the public and transportation can be arranged by calling the church office at 577-2727.
Annual Christmas Tea
Colonial Heights is pleased to host ladies of the community for a Christmas Tea, featuring music of the season, inspirational thoughts from keynote speakers, and a delightful lunch served by the men of our congregation. It’s a wonderful way to take a break from the hectic rush of December to remember what the season is really all about. For tickets or to host a table, please contact the church office.
We are proud to be a small church with a big heart and big vision for being the body of Christ here in South Knoxville.
